If you go check out a tattoo flash set at your local tattoo parlor, you’ll see that there is a diverse array of religious tattoos available. That’s because people of all different types of spiritual backgrounds have a strong interest in obtaining a faith-based tattoo. But what motivates these people to get permanently inked with a symbol of their faith?
Here are some of the common reasons that people get religious tattoos:
- They’ve survived something difficult. Oftentimes, a person’s faith is the only thing that seems to get them through a tough time and they want to honor their survival with a tattoo.
- The tattoo has a dual meaning. For example, cross tattoos may represent a person’s religious beliefs as well as their ethnic background.
- They want to show their faith to others. For some people, spirituality is a significant part of who they are. They want this to be demonstrated to everyone who meets them.
There are many different reasons that compel people to get religious tattoos. In the end, those reasons are very personal and are unique to the individual. If this is something that you’ve been considering, remember that the only person who can decide whether or not it’s right for you is you.

What is your sorority or fraternity all about? What does it mean to you? For many members of Greek groups, the organization is a place to make friends and be part of a community within the larger society of school and the surrounding world. It’s a place where comfort is found, support is offered and young adults grow into contributing members of society. To work properly, these organizations have to create a sense of shared purpose and kinship. That’s why there are so many rituals surrounding the existence of sororities and fraternities. And that’s why clothing and Greeks go hand-in-hand.
When everyone within a group wears items that bear symbols of that group, the solidarity of the group is strengthened. By wearing Greek Gear, you are showing a prideful commitment to the organization that you have opted to become a part of. By wearing this pride on your body, you tell your group that you are honored to be a part of what you have all come together to do. This strengthens the bonds that you are forming with the people that you are developing relationships with. Apparel for Greeks is about more than just looking good; it’s about commitment to the people who make up your community.

Are you the kind of person who always remembers to send a card on special occasions? If so, you probably pride yourself on the little things that you do to connect to others in your life. And yet, you might be feeling that the simple card isn’t really enough to show that you care. It’s nice, but it’s not unique. It doesn’t say, "you mean something really special to me so I took the time to get creative".
If you’re interested in putting a fresh spin on your holiday reminders, consider investing some time and money in getting magnetic door signs for recognizing certain occasions. These signs can be slipped onto the cars of people that you love when they aren’t looking in order to surprise them when they head out to run errands. They’re temporary so they can be removed after the occasion is over. And they can be personalized so you can say something sweet and special on each one.
If you know people who don’t drive, consider using vinyl lettering to spell out your message on their front window so they’ll see it when they get home from work. You can even pick up some generic window graphics to add a design to the message that you’ve put on display. You’ll be saying the same thing that you would with a card but it’ll be in a way that really brings a sense of surprise to your loved ones’ lives. These little things are what really make occasions memorable!

Usually the things that get your attention are pretty cool. The latest new gadgets, the trends in online social networking, the new fashions … these things catch your eye and usually your wallet. Although you might spend a few too many dollars on them, they don’t hurt you as you enjoy them. But then there are the things that catch your attention in a bad way. Over the last several years, crystal meth has been one of those things for many people.
The reason that crystal meth became so popular so quickly as the drug of choice for many people is because it disguises itself as a really cool drug. It makes you feel more awake and active and makes talking to people easier. Not only does the drug seem cool but it makes you seem cooler at the same time. Of course, that’s all an illusion. It doesn’t seem nearly so cool when its highly addictive properties give you a drug addiction that requires drug rehab to resolve.
It’s important to remember to be discerning in what you do and don’t let in to your life. It’s easy to get swept away by the latest flashy thing that gets your attention and boosts your popularity. Don’t let it be too easy. As we head into the new year and try to find ways to celebrate, remember that what you do each and every day is what ends up being how you spent your life.
