Selling Our Stuff After the Divorce

August 27th, 2009 by andik

sale I know that none of us dream of getting divorced once we get married, but sadly, for some of us, that is something that can come true.  I thought our marriage was fine and that we had a great life, but I guess my wife didn’t think the same way.  As it turns out, she was cheating on me and then left me for him.

After grieving and going through a somewhat messy divorce, I have decided that I want to get rid of anything in the house that reminds me of Sally.  I think that it will be better to start over with new stuff so that I can get on with my life.

It took me nearly two weeks to get everything together for the yard sale that I am going to have.  I will especially love getting rid of the western home decor and the chilly western bedding set we had.  If I can get rid of all of the stuff, I will have some money to renovate the house and decorate how I would like it.

I am selling everything this weekend and hopefully most of the stuff will be gone in the first day.  I know some of the stuff will be hard to part with, but I will be glad when it is gone.

Great Danes appeared on coins from 36 BC!

August 16th, 2009 by smoAp

It seems that the Italian GreyHound was originally bred from a dog that ran wild across the European country side hundreds of years ago. That original animal was probably much closer in size and shape to the full sized greyhound dogs, but had a tendency to be on the smallish side.

With years of successful breeding the dog became a standard and are enjoyed by many families around the world. No longer does it hunt the woods of middle Europe, running wild, however.

At the other end of the size spectrum can be found the Great Dane. While not from Denmark at all, this majestic creature has poise, and a bit of flair. The breed is quite old, with some conjecture that the animals likeness was found on coins dating as far back as 36 BC!

Although Danes can become aggressive with same sex dogs, more than anything they are considered lovable, gentle giants. And giant they can become. Probably one of the tallest of all dog breeds and usually measuring in around 30 to 32 inches long, the male dog of the breed can find its way upwards to 200 pounds.

If you decide to go the route of the Great Dane, please ensure you’re going to be able to handle an animal of that magnitude. With good training and a little strength, however, you should be just fine.

Providing Hearing Aids to Church Patrons

July 23rd, 2009 by andik

senior hearing One of the biggest changes that our church congregation has undergone over the last few years is that in general, the average age has increased.  Though that may sound a little too obvious, in reality, it has presented its own set of problems.

We noticed early on that there were complaints about the sound level in the chapel.  Many people said that they could barely hear the preacher and it reminded them of people whispering.  So, we added a new sound system complete with louder speakers, and for a time there were fewer complaints.  But the congregation was only happy for six months or so before the complaints began again.  At this point we new we had a problem.

After some deliberation at a number of board meetings, it was decided that we would look into finding hearing aids so that those people that did have problems hearing would at least have some sort of solution.  Our sister church had some so we thought that we would contact them to see what they suggested.

It took a little more than two months to get everything sorted out, but in the end we are now able to cater to those who can’t hear as well as the rest of us.  In fact, since we purchased the devices, our turnout has increased so everyone is pretty happy.

Be Happy Where You Are

May 22nd, 2009 by autoPiloting

Lately I’ve been itching to get away from home for awhile. I want to pick up and move to a foreign country or sell all my stuff and go backpacking until I find a new place to settle down. The problem is that I know that I’m not going to be any happier anywhere else than I am here. What I’ve learned over time is that you need to learn to be happy where you are.

This isn’t to say that there aren’t great places in the world to see. It’s true that I might be happier for awhile in Honolulu Hawaii or Banff Canada. But ultimately I think I’d find that there are the same things to do in Banff or Honolulu as there are here.

The problem is really that I’m restless. I’m frustrated with my own inability to just chill out and figure out what’s going on with my moods. I’m not sure what my next step is in life and it’s hard to just sit still and deal with that so I want to go somewhere else. I think it’s better to learn to be happy with myself here though. Then I can go on vacation to Banff or Hawaii and really enjoy the experience!

Honesty, Openness and Relationships

May 19th, 2009 by autoPiloting

I am currently dating a guy who has a very different philosophy from me about honest and open communication. He believes that as long as you’re honest in what you actually say then it’s okay if you’re not totally open with people. I believe that if you really want to be close to someone then you need to be not just honest but also open about things.

I guess I just feel like our closest friendships and relationships are supposed to be the place where we feel safe just being who we really are. I can tell my best friend everything and not be embarrassed about it. We’ve talked about medical issues (like hemroids treatment and warts treatment), childhood problems in our families and fears we have about our futures. We know each other because we’re really open about who we are and we know that it’s okay to be that way with each other.

I’m afraid that my relationship with this guy isn’t going to go anywhere because of this difference between us. I don’t want to spend my time trying to convince someone to be open with me. But I do like him and another philosophy of mine is that it’s important to let people be who they are if you want to really get to know them so we’ll just have to see what happens.
