Using Google on Your Phone

September 27th, 2008 by searcher

Google is one of the Internet’s best friends, and now you can use it on your cell phone, too.  The best example I can think of is the iPhone.  My husband has one, and I am just amazed at what you can do on a phone when it has the full Internet.  When you Google for directions to someplace, Google Local even finds your location for you, so that you don’t need to enter in your address yourself!

Say, for instance, that you’re going from work to your Washington D C dentist’s office.  You’re already on the road and you’re lost.  Instead of having to stop for directions, you simply pull out your iPhone and Google the address.  Google pinpoints your location, and hey presto!  You’re not lost anymore!  Google gives you directions to the Washington DC dental service from your current location.  Next thing you know you’re getting your Potomac sedation dentistry done — right on time.

Even if you don’t know the address of where you’re going, you can use Google Local on your mobile phone to find your way.  If you just look for the name of the business, Google will find it for you — and its address.  Then you can map the location and get directions from your present location.

There is no end to the ways in which Google can improve our lives!

Tips for a Green Wedding

September 25th, 2008 by searcher

As people become more aware of the environment and the harm we’ve done it, not to mention as the price of harmful things like gasoline skyrockets, the green movement is growing — like a weed, except this one is a good weed!  If you’re interested in having a green wedding, here are some ideas for environmentally friendly wedded bliss.

  1. Get a wedding website.  These are really popular because a lot of people enjoy keeping blogs and creating websites.  Also, though, you can use the website to relay information such as wedding announcements, accommodations for out-of-towners, reception information, RSVP, etc.  People still like getting paper invitations in the mail but at least this way you can count on how much paper you have to put in the envelope, as all of those things usually require a separate card.
  2. Try DIY wedding invitations.  When you make your wedding invitations yourself, you ensure that they weren’t made in a sweatshop overseas.  Maybe you can even incorporate recycled materials into your invitation — or use all recycled paper.  A lot of contemporary wedding invitations use collage-like designs.  It’s fun to be creative about it and try to find ways to save the environment and still have your invitations, too!
  3. Buy secondhand — and encourage your guests to, as well!  I had a 1920s-themed wedding, so everyone came in vintage costumes.  Some were rented, some were bought at secondhand stores, but I can guarantee that all of them were much more fun to put together than a brand-new, store-bought outfit, anyway!

Just because you’re getting married doesn’t mean you have to forget about being environmentally friendly.  What other ways can you think of to make your wedding green?

With Determination and Spunk

September 24th, 2008 by SMO

The other night when I was down at the Tampa batting cages, I met a young boy who was full of spunk and determination. You could tell that he really loved the game and I was inspired by how he would give every swing of the bat his best efforts and that he was happy with a good hit and critical of himself when he missed. He was about eight years old and I had never seen anyone so young be so motivated by any one thing.
I got to talking with his dad and I found out that he had just returned from Tampa baseball camp and that he had been told that he was a natural there to someday be able to play in the major leagues. His dad said that it had gotten to his head a little bit and he wanted to practice all day long now for his future career as a baseball player.
He came over to where we were talking and even offered me some “real Tampa softball lessons”. I told him that I would love to take him up on them, but I had to get going. I wished his dad luck with him and I walked away with a smile on my face. I really do hope this little boy gets his dream one day. I know if he doesn’t, it will certainly not be for lack of determination.

How to Turn your City Truck into a Real Workhorse

September 23rd, 2008 by SMO

You bought a shiny new pickup truck from a local dealership. You purchased a monthly membership to your local carwash, made sure to buy a full supply of armor-all and hung a deodorizer on your rear-view mirror. That’s nice. Now you can turn the heads of your fellow drivers on the local toll way; but can you drive your truck over a dirt road, to a job site, or even to an outdoor monster truck festival without feel a bit… embarrassed? With a few simple suggestions for accessories, you can turn your city slicker truck into a vehicle any workman would be proud of:

·         Add a truck rack. A truck rack is a great idea for drivers who need to keep tools, equipment, ladders and other items handy and organized. There are also racks designed specifically for items such as kayaks, canoes and saw tables.
·         Truck tool boxes are useful and look great. One of the best ways to show the world that you view your truck as a lot more than a highway ride is to install a tool box to the truck bed. Today’s models offer a range of choices and allow workers to take all of their tools from job to job, with the security of knowing you can lock up your box and keep everything secure.

While pickup truck drivers will be excited to turn their vehicle into a truly rugged ride, most serious truck owners will also let you know that the trucks that look the best are the ones that carry a month’s worth of dust on their truck beds and mud on their tires. So lose the armor-all.

Increase Sales with Telemarketing Consultants

September 22nd, 2008 by SMO

One of the most important aspects of owing a business is its sales revenue as well as its profit. A decrease in sales can mean lay offs for employees. Even worse, a decrease in sales can mean filing for bankruptcy and the end of your business. Because of the importance of sales, it is crucial to know how to effectively run your sales department. One way to ensure your sales department is running effectively is to hire telesales consultants for advice.

Telemarketing consultants are hired to evaluate the inside sales and telemarketing services run by a particular business. It is up to them to give recommendations as to which way the business should head to increase sales, whether it means looking to outsource telesales services or revamping current operations. Each organization is different and that is why it is important that consultants evaluate each situation carefully. For one business the best idea may be to outsource some or all of their sales operations. However, on the other hand, other business may increase sales by simply revamping their current operations and cutting down the excess. Either way consultants can set out the correct game plan to help business succeed in their area of expertise.
