Everyone wants a career that they can have fun in, rather than just a job they hate. Some careers, however, are more known for being fun than others. Here are the 3 top "fun" careers.
Writer. Okay, maybe this is just my preference, but I love being a freelance writer. It doesn’t necessarily mean that I’ve written anything famous or even well known – not every writer can be Stephen King, right — but it does mean that I write from home (or wherever I please) and have fun doing it!
Graphic artist. There are lots of artists out there who can make a really good living, but personally I think graphic artists must have the most fun. I have a friend who is a graphic artist, and she has designed things such as backgrounds and characters for video games. Who wouldn’t like to work in video games, right?
Pro athlete. I think pretty much every boy I knew in school wanted to be a pro athlete someday. Usually the sport of choice was football or basketball, but there was also a group of die-hard soccer players at my school. And now thanks to Tiger Woods, professional golf careers have joined that list. Just like any other sport, a golf career requires some schooling, usually from a golf academy, in order to gain credibility.
Not everyone is lucky enough to work in a truly fun career, and quite frankly any career can be fun if you genuinely enjoy it. These are just the top 3, in my opinion!
I own a horse, and I work off his board by mucking stalls at the barn where he’s at. The other day when I was shoveling manure in the semi-private pasture, I ran across a bright orangey-red plastic BB, such as from an airsoft gun.
I was instantly furious. Who would do such a thing as shoot at horses? I’m sure whoever it is probably likes the reaction — they probably get the horses racing around in a panic, which can be pretty to see but is also just plain mean. I read once in one of my horse magazines that one of the biggest problems people with horse property run into is the lack of understanding from non-horsey neighbors, but honestly, I never thought even non-horse people would do something like this!
I wish I knew what kind of gun they came from, as that could probably help me figure out who it was who did it — and then would I ever give them a piece of my mind! Someone more familiar with airsoft might be able to tell me, for example, if the pellet is the kind used in KWA airsoft or Tokyo Marui guns. I, on the other hand, have no clue, so my only option will be catch the jerk red-handed!
I’ve always enjoyed writing and making up stories. When I was in elementary school — probably about fourth grade — I put together a little book with four different stories about our naughty young cat, Casey.
One of the stories was about something that took place when we went skiing one weekend day. It was near Christmas, and my sister and I had put our old, smaller Christmas tree up in one of the upstairs bedrooms as our own personal tree, while the newer, bigger family tree graced the living room as usual.
Back in those days, we always got up pretty early to go skiing. My dad was on ski patrol and typically had to be there pretty early, so my mom had to haul us out of bed and dress us in our childrens ski clothes half-asleep. She’d dress us in our long underwear, turtlenecks, and sweaters, and then we could sleep in the car on the way up to the ski slopes. The heavier ski clothes, such as our kids ski pants and kids snowboard jackets, could wait until we got to the slopes.
Anyway, when we got home from skiing this particular day, we found that the little Christmas tree had been knocked over and the ornaments strewn all over the place. We’re not sure if he tried to climb the tree or if he just got too excited while playing with the ornaments, but unfortunately one ornament did break.
Casey just passed away a couple of years ago, and in his old age he was far beyond this kind of playfulness. But it’s still nice to think back on his antics when he was still a cute little kitten!
